American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics Fellowship Requirements-2015

The American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics Fellowship program focuses on physician candidates who express an interest and expertise in the management in Pediatrics. It is in the best interest of the College to both recognize and advance those candidates who promote quality care, extensive knowledge, and a desire to both serve and advance the profession in the field of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics.

All applications will be reviewed by the credentials committee of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics.

An applicant who has fulfilled the following requirements below will receive a certificate of fellowship form the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics.

Requirements (Core and Additional)

Core Requirements

  • Must be a licensed physician with a minimum of four years post-graduate experience
  • Must be a member, in good standing, of American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics for a minimum of one year – or- an approved affiliate member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics and in professional practice for a minimum of three years
  • Must display a high level of competence and conduct with knowledge in Pediatric Foot and Ankle Management
  • Attend a minimum of one meeting sponsored by the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics
  • Display interest in service and forwarding the College in professional and public setting

Additional Requirements (Complete a minimum of 2)

The following are areas that can qualify a candidate for Fellowship Status:

  • Professional presentations
    • Presented a pediatric focused presentation at an organized professional medical meeting or at a recognized medical college
    • Present a minimum of two 30 minute lectures at an ACFAP conference or a conference sponsored by ACFAP
  • Published Papers and Reviews
    • Published an article on a pediatric subject in an accepted journal (i.e. JAPMA, JAMA, JBJS, JFAS, Pediatrics etc.)
    • Contributor to textbook or chapter of a medical textbook focused on pediatric medicine
    • Publish journal review in accepted publication with a focus on pediatric medicine
    • Contribute a minimum of 2 articles to ACFAP quarterly
  • Professional Clinical Experience
    • Submit a minimum of 2-2000 word case presentations involving a pediatric patient and pathology and treatment suitable for publication
      • This includes medical, biomechanical, surgical
    • Serve on a staff at a teaching hospital with experience in pediatric management
    • Be an faculty member at a recognized post graduate residency program or medical university
